Decided to test out this hair clay and was amazed by its results. It is a dry clay and some effort is needed to rub and emulsify it on hands before applying. It has a very strong hold yet still feels lightweight on the hair. Most clay that I have tried tend to only be effective on short & medium hair lengths, but this EBL clay is able to hold my longer hair up for that tousled look or wavy-textured look. More importantly, this clay smells great and washes off easily. I now rotate between this and By Vilain Golddigger for my daily hairstyling routine. The EBL’s hold and finishing look is comparable with the Golddigger, but it is much drier to work with. For its price of less than $20 for 80g, this is a steal for anyone that is looking to invest in a good clay.

“So.. managed to get my hands on EBL taste Matte Clay.
Cut to the chase, the texture of the product is your typical dry clay. It feels rough at first, but is surprisingly easy to emulsify on your palms. Going in, it doesn’t tug or pull too much on the hair, so application is fairly easy. (Do note that I carried out my usual hairstyling routine of pre-styling with SSS, blow-dry and then applying the product)
Let’s get on to the hold. This is one of those products in which you can feel the hold instantaneously upon application. It’s damn bloody strong. I made the mistake of putting in too much product today, so honestly I think all you need is a little bit. Putting in too much of this product is most likely gonna weigh your hair down so do experiment with the amount that your hairstyle/hair type can take.
Finish wise, you get a decent matte finish with some nice texture. There might be a little bit of a shine if you apply too much product though.
Washability I can’t say now, as I have yet to shampoo my hair. But I feel like I could get most of the product out by rinsing thoroughly with water. Based on my experience though, this should shampoo out in one go. Will edit and update once I have shampooed. *UPDATE* As predicted, product is definitely washable with one round of shampoo. By Vilain users, this should be no issue for you.
All in all, a product that is definitely on par with some, if not most of the clays that I’ve tried thus far. (I’ve tried most of the big names, trust me ) Bro DJ_Flame did compare it to By Vilain’s Dynamite Clay, and I can now see why. Those looking to try out a decent clay product but don’t want to spend as much, this is your thing right here.”

worked perfect
went into hair easily and styling with no tugging or snagging and very natural look with good volume and strength even with just a rough anyhow-ish blow dry
just need to rub and run and rub like a magic lamp and the genie will grant you handsome hair

Holds up very well throughout the day, even more so with hair spray (i use Feeling Power Point; available on TPJ!), and washes off easily. Nothing more you could ask for in a clay. Much better than Vantachi in my humble opinion.
EBL is my trusted replacement for the discontinued Sebastian Xtah Crude Clay. Support the product so that it doesn’t end up with the same fate!

One of my favourite wax. Great on dry hair if you’re going for that messy matt look.
Easy to use and easy to wash.

My 2nd purchase from TPJ.
I didn’t use much effort to scrap the clay and spread over my hands.
There wasn’t much of a smell when I opened the container. However, there is a light honeydew fragrance when I rub it between my palms.
It is sticky, so a little goes a long way. Vantachi is easier to apply as a comparison but I use less EBL clay for the same hold.
With hair spray, my hair style doesn’t need touch up as my hair is short.
Without hair spray, my hair style will need restyling if there is wind blowing. However, I find the pliability great. Restyling is not a problem.
The clay is easy to wash off since I don’t use alot for styling.
Overall, this is a great product to use. If you have used Vantachi before, you can try EBL too if you prefer to use the product in a container as compared to squeezing a tube. Both will give you the holding power with low shine. As expected, excellent service from JH.

Smell like honeydew..good strong hold and easily wash off

Having used the previous EBL clay, i must say that this new product holds just as well but doesn’t feel sticky on hand.
Hair is pliable and easy to style.

Got a sample of EBL clay from junhong, i must say the holding power is damn strong! For those of you who have used joico clay before, you may find that the holding power is mediocre, but EBL clay’s holding power is on another level!
Good matte finish as well.

Thumbs up for the service by LJH, he knows his stuff and answered all my questions quickly.
On to the product review.
Pros:
– Very good strong hold
– Totally non-sticky, easy to wash off hands after styling
– Has a light fragrance which is very mild (I like this because I hate heavily scented products)
– Just a TINY amount is enough to hold a style. In fact, I advise against using too much
– With the appropriate amount, hair is easily restylable.
Cons:
– The only thing I don’t like about this product is that it feels hard to wash out at the end of the day. I feel like I have to shampoo at least twice to get my hair clean. Even then I still feel like there’s some product left in my hair, making it feel a little rough and dry.
All in all, a great product! It’s hard to beat for it’s price. I feel it’s comparable to other more expensive products like the UEVO dry wax or Arimino freeze wax.

“Just a quick review of some of the products that I’ve received from bro leejh.
VOI styling spray: First thing first, the product smells great. I personally spray a few more times just to get more of it to have a heavier scent. It has a firm hold, and it’s quite shiny if you do spam it like me. Overall, a very nice hair spray.
Vogne Shampoo: What can I say? It has been mentioned many times in this thread that it is the best quality shampoo at this price point that you could possibly get. It has a creamy, buttery smell that is quite lovely when you do apply it on your hair while showering. After washing off, my hair felt like it had locked in the nourishing benefits from the shampoo. In fact, I had bought 2 at one go after trying out the sample from bro leejh.
EBL Clay: It has great hold and it is definitely easy to apply into the hair once you’ve rubbed your palms to generate some heat. However, some may prefer the smell of other waxes such as GD, that is not to say it smells bad, it’s just personal preference. Pliability of the hair is good too. I went to school in the morning, and all I had to do was slight adjustments in the late afternoon, and it’s all good. Definitely a good option if you’re looking at a more affordable choice as compared to GD.
Cheers.”

Decided to try EBL Clay for two reasons: it’s made in Japan & the holding strength.
So far the holding strength does not disappoint, but am yet to try it with hairsprays or the SS spray for perhaps, a slightly more lasting hold for more than half a day outside.
Cheers!

I manage to grab hold of a sample of this from seller and was already determined to purchase it to replace my gastby wax after the first try. It has a very strong hold, matte finish and it’s not that sticky. However, it can be quite difficult to wash off. But still, it’s definitely worth it and I’m happy with the purchase.

One of the best clay that i have used so far…Smell like honeydew and not that sticky when spread around your hand.
Reasonably strong hold which is good as you can restyle your hair throughout the day if needed and coupled with a matte finish with a natural look.
Jeremy –
I have tried the EBL hair clay. To be honest
This is one of the best clay among others.
It has a very reasonable strong hold with Matt finishing.
Few of my friends tries it and most of them said it’s definitely way better than those wax/clay that are being sold conveniently at the supermarket.
Thumbs up for TPJ!
