Looks like the last review for Vantachi was some years ago. Thought I should have it updated. Have tried many different sorts of clays (both dry and soft clays), pastes, in oil and water based versions, from salon brands to home brewed brands, famous or popular brands on YouTube and also the more unknown ones like Vantachi. I would rate Vantachi as my number one favorite for several reasons. First I prefer water based so I get an easier washout, I dislike sleeping with the feeling of product still in my hair and I definitely don’t want to clog up my pores, and Vantachi is water based. Second, I prefer something that is versatile to allow for both matte or shine and Vantachi does that. Third, I want something that last the entire day, many products advertise as that but I find them inaccurate or they require hair spray to have the style hold the entire day, Vantachi does not require hair spray for it to hold from morning till night, it is strong. Fourth is price, I have bought expensive products so I don’t shy from price but what I love about Vantachi is its price, which is definitely a plus. Fifth is styling, dry clay is hard to style if you want flexibility in styles, with Vantachi, a soft clay, it is so easy to style it exactly the way you want without having to emulsify in both palms as with dry clay and there’s actually also little to no need tug and pull. And finally, Jun Hong is a gem for a supplier. He’s patient and helpful, trust me, if you have met him you’ll know what I mean.
I’m glad I do not have to search for YouTube again for recommendations and I’m now on my third tube now, and will be replenishing Vantachi again for sure.

Probably the best hair clay product I’ve used so far. My hair tends to be medium length and styled to a side parting.
Feels quite thick and sticky from the tube, so you’ll need to rub these between your fingers/palm before applying. Not much tugging/pulling of hair on application and on restyling – other hair clays have such a strong hold that even on restyling in the middle of the day you feel like you’re pulling your hair out. Vantachi is strong, but quite easily restyle-able. It also provides good lift for volume. I only use a small amount to fix my hair for the whole day. It can’t quite maintain the same hold for the whole day, but more than good enough. It’s also very easy to wash off, which is the icing on the cake.
Highly recommended. Thanks TPJ!

Most awesome hair wax/clay/rubber I’ve used (ok I consider it the same as clay). Easy to wash off, strong hold, and slight shine to it. The only thing I’d improve is it dries out quickly, compared to something like gatsby, but that itself is a plus point for most people. Combined with powerpoint hairspray, the hold is insane. It has a cucumber smell, although to be honest I did prefer the apple flavour by gatsby.
Oh and for me a minor point is that it’s in a tube form, which means when I need to squeeze out, and I usually do 2 rounds (first on top, then the top and rest of the head), I need to wash the tube after I’m done. but it’s a minor inconvenience.

Ordered and tried this clay, texture of clay was easier to spread as it was much softer than ebl clay. Hold wise was impressive and able to remain pliable after a long time! Also gives off a faint nice smell

“Vantachi Hair Clay (purple)
– Smell like cucumber
– Able to re-create the hairstyle easily
– Able to create slight volume for short hair
– Holding strength: moderate for short hair and weak for medium hair
– Easy to wash off”

have been using Vantachi clay for few months… a good replacement over Joico Ice Erratic.. good hold strength which last the whole day.. best used with PowerPoint spray
Wei Han –
I’ve tried many different hair styling products prior to Vantachi, but ever since I discovered this gem, I’ve stuck to it until now. It is legitimately the best product I’ve ever used, and it is one of the very rare few products that is able to keep my hair in place for the entire day. Some people might not be fond of the stickiness, but I personally love the stickiness because it allows me to style my hair to its desired shape and maintain its form for a really long time. What makes this clay more attractive to me is that it is extremely easy to wash off, a feature that I am very particular about as I hate the feeling of residual substances trapped in my hair. To end off, I strongly recommend the Vantachi clay to anyone wanting to have fabulous hair all day, any day!
ken_chua000 –
Better alternative to Joico Ice Erratic, easy to wash off and has a strong hold. The downside is that it is alot drier thus you need to style slowly to protect your hair from falling off.
LT –
Fast delivery. This clay is better than Joico. Agree with most people here that it has a strong hold and pleasant smell
nigel –
One of my favourites 🙂 , the scent is pleasant , reminds me of watermelon candy . Very easy to apply and the hold is strong enough to last for the whole day . This clay appeals to me as it gives absolutely no shine . Recommended!

My first time with the Vantachi hair clay, have read good reviews about this and decided to make my first purchase, very pleased with Junhong’s service, very quick response and helped to go the extra mile to ensure I get my product soonest.
Will recommend this to my friends and will definitely come back for more purchases!
decibel –
Sorry for the late review 😉
Anyway, this is way better than those off the shelves wax from supermarts. Although it’s sticky but it holds well. I can also restyle as it doesn’t harden at all. I like the flexibility

just got my 2nd tube of Vantachi from jun rong! frankly speaking this is one of the better hair clay I’ve used. easy to squeeze out of the tube, rub and apply. hilding power is definitely there. for a $16 product, this is easily the best value of money. only gripe i have with this product is that it can be sticky to apply to your hair, and sometimes i accidentally yank out a little hair. after sometime i got the hang of applying it and less hair yanked out. easy to wash off too. thumbs up for jun hong for his service and answering my queries!
weiyang –
Just got the vantachi hair clay from JH. Product arrived within 3 days of purchase neatly packed with a sample of the Vogne acidic shampoo.
The vantachi is of absolute superior quality compared to the Joico which I’ve been using for the past year or so.
Perfect for those that wants a matt look but be warned not to apply too much if not some hair loss is guaranteed as it’s really sticky. Finished off with the powerpoint hairspray and my out-of-bed look lasted me from morning till night without problem.
Hong Quan –
It feels hard to squeeze out the clay as it is really hard. The feel of rubbing of clay onto my palms is quite hard also. Didnt expect it to be so hard and sticky.
However, during application to hair, it actually does not seems that hard, it is easy to apply on and the hold is good. It gives a very nice fruity smell too and gives a matte finishing. Doesn’t gives the sticky or thick hair look and feel. Also, it is easy to wash off.
Andrew –
Pros:
Hold is extremely good.
Lasts whole day (8am-8pm)
Good amount of shine.
Cons:
Dries very quickly.
Sticky when it dries on your hands.
Not really pliable.
Edi –
Does everything it says In the review, strong hold, good smell, easy to wash off, etc. A very good product for this price.
JH –
Strong hold, pleasant smell, easy to wash off, good customer service, reasonable price. Enough said.
DK –
Compared to Joico’s Erratic Molding Clay, I would say this is similar but better is so many ways.
Firstly, it’s easier to get off your hands ( and to me, that means your hair too).
Secondly, the smell is better; Joico’s cucumber smelling clay gives me a headache.
Thirdly, I like my products to have great hold and little-to-moderate amounts of shine and this fits the bill perfectly.
Lastly, albeit not related to the product but TPH/JH gives the best customer service a paying customer could ask for.
Buy it! It’s worth it and doesn’t break the bank.
3xtra –
I think JH provides good service. He will email and SMS on the delivery status of the product. He even sent a sample of Vogne shampoo.
I ordered Vantachi clay as my HDF Quicksand and Gold Digger by Vilain are finishing soon. This is my review based on a few days of usage.
Smell wise, Vantachi wins in this category. I like the smell better than Joice erratic clay, quicksand and GD.
In terms of hold, it is strong. I’ve short hair and I like its hold over GD. I think GD is more suitable for slickback hairstyle as it is more pliable. However for my short hair which I will top it off with a holding hairspray, Vantachi is more suitable for me as I can create my styling with ease and the hairstyle will remain from 8am till I come home from work at 7pm.
Application is easy as I don’t have to heat up the clay as I do with GD. I tried rubbing Vantachi clay as I do with GD and it turns out funny, as if I rubbing off dead skin. Vantachi is different so you don’t need to heat it up.
It washes off more easily than GD but the difference is not too significant.
The next product I will try is EBL when Vantachi is used up.
I hope this review is helpful.

As a short hair lady, I was abit worry the smell of the clay turns me off. Thank goodness, it has a fruity smell. Pairing up with os sea salt spray, the hold can last from 8am till 10pm! Not to mention it’s a light weight clay that didn’t weigh down my hair. Good customer service too!

“JH bro
sorry for posting this review late, was busy with exams
Vogne shampoo n conditioner: the smell is very nice, able to moisturize the hair very well as compared to previous shampoos used. able to wash styling products on hair after a long day.
sea salt spray able to provide volume to the hair along with the help of hairdryer, useful for people with flat hair without any volume. combination of vantachi clay and gold digger for styling of hair, the clay smells very nice and is able to combine well with gd as compared to quicksand + gd combo. finish off with ppspray and do not need to worry about hair falling off against strong winds, just need to use comb to adjust alittle.”
